Sacred Solstice Celebrations

Ritual acts give life meaning. They also honor and acknowledge the unseen web of Life that connects us all.

Yoga means UNION, and the entire practice is designed to bring us to intimately know our interconnection with all things. Considering how the outer environment, season and weather affects our inner world; your body/emotions/dreams and visions, is a way we can experience this.

If you are in Sydney you may like to join me for Women's Yoga Circle Solstice Gathering. If you don’t have a community that provides this, I encourage you to create your own and reclaim your connection to the source of all life.

A simple act done with intention in your heart is enough.

-----
SACRED SUMMER SOLSTICE: A time for honouring Light, the Fire of the Sun and how it nourishes your life. Recognise also, the inner fire-- your spirit and inner drive to create and manifest through willful action.

Ritual Practices:
* Create a sacred space/ alter that reflects the Summer/Sun (seashells, summer flowers, dried herbs, summer fruits)
* Light a candle or a fire to honour the sacredness of the moment.
* Draw/ Journal on the FEELINGS present for you today, at the height of summer. Try not to over think it, feel and allow these feelings to move through you, focus on the PROCESS of creating/expressing.
* Gather with friends for a picnic, to share the delights of sun-ripened summer food. Share with one another what feels most 'ripe' and abundant in your lives right now.
* Speak or write a gratitude prayer for the power of the SUN and how it nourishes you.
* Yoga: Practice Slow Sun Salutes "Surya Namaskar" (slow, because the environment is already warm in summer and you don't want to overheat too much!)

-----
SACRED WINTER SOLSTICE: A time for honouring Darkness, and your capacity to Surrender and let go part of yourself/ your life that need to die-off in order for you to move forward.

Ritual Practices:
* Create a sacred space/ alter that reflects the Winter where you live (dried leaves, bones, gumnuts)
* Light a candle or a fire to honour the sacredness of the moment.
* Draw/ Journal on the FEELINGS present for you today, in the depths of Winter. Try not to over think it, feel and allow these feelings to move through you, focus on the PROCESS of creating/expressing.
* Take the Winter solstice night off electricity, use only candle light in your home. Honour a moment of complete darkness with loved ones, perhaps before a meal, followed by lighting a candle and singing a song together.
* Speak or write a gratitude prayer for the darkness, the mystery, the unknown. Give thanks for the not- knowing.
* Burning Ceremony: Create a representation of something within you that needs to die so you can become unstuck and move forward. Draw, write, make it out of natural (flammable) materials and toss it in the fire.
* Yoga: Practice Yin Yoga and Meditation.
